In April 2019 I joined a small group of students from my major, to do a workshop in Chongqing China. Ten of us were chosen to visit this country for three weeks, experience a new way of thinking and a different culture.

We travelled in small groups. Me and two other fellow students arrived a few days before the workshop started. We stayed in an airbnb at the city center of Chongqing.

After two nights we met with the others at the campus of Sichuan Institute of Fine Arts and started our one week of Workshop. We learned a lot about Universal Design Thinking Concepts and how to work with a different culture. It was an eye-opening experience for me and I understood that we are different, but also the same.

We worked in mixed groups, always one german student with three or more chinese students. Me and my workgroup developed a floating coffee machine to combine the chinese culture with modern technologies. It was a successful project and helped us to experience a new way of working and thinking.

After the seminar, our german group visited Chengdu to do a little sightseeing. We got some closer looks inside companies, temples and the chinese nature.

All in all I am very thankful for this opportunity and I can surely recommend visiting China at least once in your lifetime.
